Steel Plant — Excavation and Shoring Progress
August 1, 2018 — A unique advantage of working with The JNE Group of Companies is the close collaboration between our engineering and construction teams. This project, a JNE Consulting and Triple Crown Enterprises (TCE) joint effort, sees these teams working together to complete the design and construction of massive equipment foundations for a steel plant, including excavation, shoring, piling, and concrete work.
These photographs document the current excavation to a depth over 13 metres. The shoring system, a temporary process used to support the excavation prior to concrete pour, is comprised of a variety of shoring techniques including sheet piling, soldier piling, and shotcrete/soil nailing. Once the excavation is completed, the complex foundations will be poured, totaling over 6,000 cubic metres of concrete. Stay tuned for more progress!
