Joe Ng, founder of JNE, recognized as AIST Life Member
JANUARY 13, 2021 — Joe Ng, the chairman and founder of the JNE Group of Companies, has been recognized as a Life Member by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST).
With over 17,500 members in over 70 countries, AIST focuses on advancing technology in the production, processing and application of iron and steel through technical development, networking, and education.
Each year, AIST publishes a roster of individuals reaching significant anniversaries of membership, beginning with 10 years and continuing with each successive 5-year anniversary for their dedication to and support of the organization.
Life Membership with the Association for Iron & Steel Technology is awarded after 35 consecutive years of membership.
Born in China, Joe moved to Hong Kong at the age of 12 to join his father. He and four other boys made the epic journey by floating on a pillowcase filled with ping-pong balls across kilometres of open water before being picked up by a fisherman.
In 1968, Joe arrived in Canada to study electrical engineering. After obtaining his degree, he returned to Hong Kong, but was convinced by a friend to return to Canada, where he found work with a consulting engineering firm that was responsible for the design of Stelco’s Lake Erie Works facility.
Joe founded Joe Ng Engineering in 1980, which has evolved into the multi-national, multi-industry group of companies with an expansive professional staff and projects completed around the world.
Please join us in congratulating Joe for this recognition!
