Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Electrical Designer to join our growing team in Merrillville, Indiana. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of electrical design projects across multiple industries. This is a hybrid role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D industrial designs, including equipment and cable tray layouts, lighting plans, heat tracing, and building services.
  • Create and interpret motor schematics.
  • Review and understand system and design layouts.
  • Size system components and proprietary hardware.
  • Assist in component and equipment selection with budget considerations in mind.
  • Generate installation and routing details in compliance with relevant codes.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers for design development and inter-discipline collaboration.
  • Support the preparation of project budgets, schedules, estimates, and proposals.
  • Monitor and adjust project scope as necessary.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical design.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD (2D & 3D); Revit experience is a strong asset.
  • Hands-on experience with motor schematics and industrial electrical layouts.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software tools.
  • Strong analytical, creative thinking, and communication skills.
  • Experience with MV/HV power systems, including substations and relaying, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with VFD motor controls (LV/MV) is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access).

Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • College diploma in engineering technology or a related field.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of CAD systems.
