Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Unit and Stripper Tower Delivery to Laundry Company
March 20, 2017 — JNE Environmental was contracted to design a wastewater treatment system for a local laundry company. Laundry wastewater can be difficult to treat due to high concentrations of soap as well as Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Fats, Oils, and Greases (FOG). The use of bleach in the presence of organic molecules also leads to the formation of chloroform, requiring chloroform-stripping technology. After on-site wastewater testing, custom chemical formulation development, and the testing of a lab scale stripper column, JNE finalized the design.
Due to the potential for foaming caused by the presence of soap, coupled with the requirement for foaming tolerance, a packed column stripper was selected for the separation process. An FS-120 Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) unit was chosen to remove the TSS and FOG, as well as to reduce the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD). The DAF, in conjunction with our engineered chemical solutions JNE 281 (coagulant) and JNE 3003 (flocculant), showed excellent results.
The next steps are to complete the installation of the JNE-designed system and to begin the commissioning process. Stay tuned for updates and a full summary once commissioning is completed.
