Civil/Structural Engineer

JNE Consulting is currently looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer for our office in Pittsburgh, PA.

Role and Responsibilities

Engineering, analysis, and design for the following:

  • Structural steel and concrete buildings and structures.
  • Foundations for building, equipment, and other structures.
  • Foundation design — pile caps, spread footing, mat foundations.
  • Crane runway and lifting beams.
  • Rehabilitation of concrete and steel structures.
  • Perform project management.
  • Establish and maintain communication with clients.
  • Perform project structural lead role.
  • Interface with and support other engineering disciplines.
  • Supervision of designers, drafters, engineers.
  • Mentor for drafters, designers, engineers of all levels.
  • Create reports.
  • Estimate engineering.

Requirements

  • Heavy industry experience.
  • General industrial design knowledge.
  • Understand construction practices and constructability.
  • Ability to work in and design for brownfield sites.
  • Understanding of seismic design.
  • Interpret and use geotechnical reports.
  • Knowledge of applicable US Codes and Standards.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling and CAD drafting practices.
  • Understand vendor equipment, client requirements, layout requirements and general design requirements and incorporate requirements into design.
  • Ability to understand and work within project scope.
  • Good understanding of working in multidiscipline environment.
  • Establish and maintain communication with clients.
  • Provide mentorship to Engineers and designers of all levels.
  • Estimate engineering.

The following skills are an asset:

  • Site work.
  • Good understanding of other engineering disciplines.
  • Understanding of piping behavior.
  • Good knowledge of industrial layout and processes.
  • Understanding of architectural design and large duct work design.
  • Advanced seismic understanding.
  • Design of hoppers and shells, masonry design, aluminum design.
  • Storm Water Management/grading and drainage.
  • Site Planning (industrial sites).
  • Finite element analysis, dynamic analysis.

Education/Licenses

  • 3+ years of relevant Civil experience.
  • Civil Engineering Degree, University Level.
  • PE an asset.
