Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Designer to join our Pittsburgh, PA office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting electrical design projects across various industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D and 2D industrial designs, including equipment layouts, cable tray layouts, lighting layouts, heat tracing, and building services installation details.
  • Create and interpret motor schematics.
  • Review and understand system and design layouts.
  • Size system components and proprietary hardware items.
  • Assist in selecting suitable components and equipment while maintaining budget considerations.
  • Develop installation and routing details that comply with applicable codes.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers for design development and inter-discipline collaboration.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, schedules, estimates, and proposals.
  • Define, monitor, and adjust project scope as needed.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical design.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD 3D &2D; experience with Revit is a plus.
  • Experience with motor schematics and industrial electrical layouts.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software and applications.
  • Strong logical and creative thinking skills.
  • Organized, self-directed, and goal-oriented.
  • Professional approach to task execution and communication.
  • Experience in MV/HV power system design (substations, pole lines, relaying, P&C) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of VFD motor control (LV/MV) specifications/applications is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access).

Qualifications and Education Required

  • High school diploma required.
  • College-level diploma in engineering technology or a related field.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of CAD systems and software.
