Position Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Electrical Designer to join our Pittsburgh, PA office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting electrical design projects across various industries.
Responsibilities
- Develop 3D and 2D industrial designs, including equipment layouts, cable tray layouts, lighting layouts, heat tracing, and building services installation details.
- Create and interpret motor schematics.
- Review and understand system and design layouts.
- Size system components and proprietary hardware items.
- Assist in selecting suitable components and equipment while maintaining budget considerations.
- Develop installation and routing details that comply with applicable codes.
- Coordinate with engineers and project managers for design development and inter-discipline collaboration.
- Assist in preparing project budgets, schedules, estimates, and proposals.
- Define, monitor, and adjust project scope as needed.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical design.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD 3D &2D; experience with Revit is a plus.
- Experience with motor schematics and industrial electrical layouts.
- Ability and willingness to learn new software and applications.
- Strong logical and creative thinking skills.
- Organized, self-directed, and goal-oriented.
- Professional approach to task execution and communication.
- Experience in MV/HV power system design (substations, pole lines, relaying, P&C) is a plus.
- Knowledge of VFD motor control (LV/MV) specifications/applications is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access).
Qualifications and Education Required
- High school diploma required.
- College-level diploma in engineering technology or a related field.
- Intermediate working knowledge of CAD systems and software.
