JNE Consulting is currently seeking a full-time Electrical Engineer with a P.Eng. for our Hamilton office.

As an Electrical Engineer P.Eng., the successful candidate’s role and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team of designers and engineers effectively and efficiently
  • Leading multi-disciplinary project electrical designs
  • Coordinate with Sr. Engineers or Project Managers for design development and inter-discipline collaboration
  • Lead and participate in the successful execution of project design, layout, and engineering
  • Development, completion and/or checking of critical design calculations, systems, and equipment specifications
  • Development and/or approval of engineering design documents, reports, and drawings
  • Completion of code reviews, and development of designs in accordance with industry codes/standards
  • Specify electrical components, systems, hardware and/or proprietary items
  • Review, approve, and stamp documents, as required by legislation
  • Development of project budgets, schedules, estimates, and proposals
  • Define, monitor, and re-define as necessary the project scope of work

Required Skills and Experience

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD; experience with Revit an asset
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word; Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 an asset
  • Ability and desire to learn new software, applications, knowledge, and skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to think logically and creatively
  • Organized and self-directed, task and goal-oriented
  • Effective, efficient, and professional in the execution of all required tasks
  • Knowledge of additional engineering discipline an asset
  • Experience in MV/HV power system design (substation, pole line, relaying, P&C) an asset
  • Experience in VFD motor control (LV/MV) specifications/applications an asset

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant working experience, including leading teams and projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario required
  • Engineering Licensure in the USA (PE) or other Canadian Provinces/Territories an asset
