An exciting opportunity is available for a full-time Intermediate Structural Engineer with a P.Eng. for our Hamilton office.  Join a dynamic, growing team of professional engineers and designers with innovative projects coupled with the opportunity to develop your career.

As an Intermediate Structural Engineer, you are required to have the following skills:

• Structural steel and concrete design
• Foundation design — piled foundations, pile caps, spread footing, mat foundations, building and equipment foundations
• Steel structure design — industrial buildings; equipment supports and access structures; industrial office buildings
• Concrete structure design — support structures for equipment
• Crane runway and monorail design — basic knowledge
• Finite element analysis
• STAAD Pro
• Codes and standards — Canadian and American codes and standards as they apply to foundations, structures, and building design
• Geotechnical reports — interpret and use report information
• Brownfield sites — ability to execute projects in existing facilities
• Technical reports
• Development engineering (Basic, FEL, FEED, etc.)
• Estimate engineering
• Basic understanding of construction practices
• Perform site work
• Monitor project progress, schedule, and budget
• Interface with client
• Supervise and mentor a small team of designers
• Lead smaller projects and work under Senior Structural Engineer on larger projects
• Interface with other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and equipment vendors

The following skills are an asset:

• 3D modeling and CAD drafting practices (basic knowledge)
• Industrial design experience
• Steel Industry experience
• Building code knowledge — building construction, classification and safety
• Basic AutoCAD/Revit
• Navisworks
• Project management

Required Qualifications and Education:

• Civil Engineering Degree, University Level
• 5+ years relevant working experience
• P.Eng. required (CDN)
