Engineering and Construction for New Galvanizing Line
Cold Rolling and Finishing
In 2003, as a part of a partnership with two major steel manufacturers, JNE Consulting provided the design and construction engineering services for a new continuous hot dipped galvanizing line in Hamilton, Ontario. This was a concurrent engineering/ construction project.
JNE was given the responsibility of engineering the electrical and process piping interconnection for all the vendor supplied equipment. In addition to engineering services, JNE provided staff to support the engineering, procurement and construction management team. The final scope item was the designing of a 1200-foot-long building. The final building, called the Mill Building, includes a 230-foot-tall galvaneal furnace tower and a 120-foot-tall section for the annealing furnace.
The total value of the engineering effort for this project was valued at $6 million. At capacity, the new galvanizing line can produce upwards of 450,000 tons of steel per year.
Since then, JNE has continued to foster an ongoing partnership with the client which has provided both companies with a platform for growth and achievement.
